Need to Build Muscle Thanksgiving Mailer

Did you know that on the average Thanksgiving Day, Americans spent 1.2 hours eating and drinking, but a whopping  3.7 hours in front of the TV on Thanksgiving Day? If the food doesn’t get ya, the laziness will!

It’s a great day to hang out with family, and maybe catch up with some friends that you don’t get to see as often as you’d like. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to eat 3,000 calories in a single meal. What we like to do here at NTBM, to avoid eating a bunch of calories that we might not need, is:

  1. Make sure we drink a ton of water with our meal. This serves to help fill us up faster, and helps offset all of that sodium hidden in turkey stuffing. And hey, a protein shake or two can also help you keep your diet a little healthier onTurkey Day…
  2. Take a walk after the meal. Instead of plopping down on the couch (and usually falling asleep) we like to take a walk. It helps us digest and avoids that “food hangover” we get from too much food and too little activity.
  3. Eat a good breakfast. If you’ve eaten a good breakfast, you’re far less likely to hit the candied yams for a third helping.
  4. Don’t skip the gym. If we can, we do a workout or even just a bit of cardio, on Thanksgiving and the day after. Or failing that, we schedule our rest day to fall on Thanksgiving and hit the gym hard the next morning, while everyone else is hitting the shopping malls (haven’t these people heard of shopping online?!).
  5. Just because you blew off your diet for a day, don’t blow your supplements too. Have a protein shake, your usual fat burner, and whatever else you usually take.
